    Standards: the Basis for Cooperation,

  Talks and presentations at the first plenary will concern various aspects of establishing standards for museum object description. There will be a round table and discussion groups on the strategy for building the Russian Cultural Heritage Network and for establishing network relations between its members, with a focus on possible ways of cooperation and coordination of effort between ADIT, the Ministry of Culture of Russia and Open society Institute (George Soros Foundation) aimed at creating museum computer resources and enabling public access to them.

  Reports on 1999-2000 activities of ADIT as Russian ICOM's professional committee on documentation and new information technologies. The audience will learn about a newly established organization, the Non-commercial Partnership on Automation of Museum Activities and New Information Technologies (NP ADIT), its registration members, its Regulations, planned activities, membership rules.
